Buchanan Projects was founded in 1985, when people who had previously built their reputations for achieving engineering targets on petrochemical and large industrial sites took the opportunity to establish the company with the aim of Delivering Confidence in Engineered Solutions by providing clients with the most practical and cost effective solutions for a diverse range of engineering projects.
Today BPL is a team of hard working, greatly experienced and highly qualified engineers and designers, still with the aim of Delivering Confidence in Engineered Solutions to very happy clients. With an accumulated knowledge and expertise of the principles gained from local and offshore projects, BPL is able to provide experienced management, engineering, design, programming, draughting and lighting design, well in excess of the firm's years.
Buchanan Projects Limited is a New Zealand based, nation wide company with personnel based in Ruakaka, Whangarei, Auckland, Hastings, Twizel and Tauranga.

Roy Buchanan
Managing Director / Engineering Manager
NZCE, REA, MNZID
Roy has had 40 years experience in the electrical industry from major generating plant, through high voltage and distribution systems, to power and control systems for end users.
As Managing Director and Project Engineer, Roy is responsible for the operation of the company, overseeing and co-ordination of projects undertaken, and the preparation and maintenance of technical standards and quality assurance for the company.
Roy's key skill is the ability to put together a team to carryout the project management, engineering design and programming of a project, on time, within budget and to the required quality standard.
Leonie Buchanan
Company Secretary (and Roy's long suffering wife!)
Leonie has been with BPL since day one, looking after the books, company BBQs and the general well being of the team members!
Ian Gray
Design Group Manager / Design Engineer
NZCE Intermediate
During experience in the electrical industry spans 35 years.
As well as being managing BPL's Design Group, Ian's time is spent with Design Engineering and Project Management.
Ian is involved in all aspects of electrical design, including high voltage substation and distribution systems, cabling and control systems, and Hydro Power Station Control and Instrumentation systems.
Tracy Bronlund
Lighting Engineer / Marketing Manager

Tracy has 15 years Marketing and Design experience in the Electrical and Lighting industries.
Tracy provides impartial lighting designs to various end users, lighting manufacturers and distributors both locally and off shore.
Tracy has been involved with the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand (IESANZ) for 7 years and is currently the Chairman for the NZ Chapter.
Don Knowles
Electrical and Instrument Design Engineer
REA, London City & Guilds. Electrical Engineering Practice (Intermediate), Registered Electrician, Technological electrical fitting (Final).
Don has had 45 years experience in hydro generation and power transmission.
Don designs and manages automation projects, and emergency power supply installations, diesel generator installations, power and substation protection control and metering equipment test and calibration, power system equipment earthing systems and lightning protection.
Don has considerable experience with Allen Bradley SLC 150 SLC 500 and PLC/5/15PLCs, industrial control I/O field devices and power supplies associated with PLC controllers.
Eddie Perigo
Electrical and Instrument Designer
Eddie has 29 years experience in the design and electrical industries.
Eddie provides Electrical and Instrumentation Design expertise, as well as Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Draughting.
Carole Mischefski-Parker
Electrical and Instrument Designer
Carole's 31 years in the electrical engineering industry have seen her experience NZ industries such as Forestry, Petrochemical, and Consulting Engineering.
Carole is part of the team providing Electrical Design, Draughting and Documentation Coordination.
